Thinking about making a beginners scrapbooking blog, what ya think? Would anyone read it? I would love to bust some stereotypes about scrapping and help folks to be less intimidated by the whole process. Much to consider.
In other news, we are headed back to NC for 10 days. Dread flying with Max but hoping he’ll do well. At least I’ll have help this time as K is heading back with us. Will be a few long travel days to and fro but am really looking forward to the visit.

Ok that was terrible. But to conclude the story from hell…
So trip one I managed to actually get my license or at least do all the crap to have it MAILED to me.
Trip 2 was the next week, a Wednesday. I went to pay the taxes and registration and all that crap. Having a new bank account, I had my debit card but no pin yet, but didn’t think it would be an issue. Of course it was! They don’t take debit cards if you use them as a credit card. K had to go register his bike and stuff so he went later and took care of my crap that afternoon. The best part of trip 2? I found out that CA had DOUBLED the registration fees THE DAY BEFORE. Shoot me in the head, please.
Now knowing that DMV’s can take forever, I ordered my personalized plates before I moved out here. While I was on trip 2, I asked if they could check the status of the plates seeing as I have to PICK THEM UP AT THE DMV! Gah, NC mails them to ya, but nooooo not CA. The lady told me there was no way to check to see where they were or if they were there.
I swear to g*d the very next day I got a postcard from the DMV to come in and pick up my plates! I kid you not! But noooo she couldn’t check the day before when they were actually there!
Trip 3 is Friday before Memorial day. I load up Max, pop him in the stroller take the generic plates off the car at the DMV, plates I just put on on Wednesday, and go in to get my personalized plates. My plates are there and I got to SEE them but did I get to pick them up? Helllllls no. Wanna know why? Because the tags they gave me on Wednesday didn’t show up in the system yet!!! Oh my god! I thought my head was going to f***ing explode!
Trip 4 was an appointment visit made on trip 3. I go for my appointment and still wait 45 minutes. I had to put the plates back on the car on trip 3 and got to take them off AGAIN for trip 4 and put the new ones on. Trips 1-3 each took over 2 hours with an impatient toddler who after about an hour was completely losing it.
Come on, CA, get with the 21st century! PRINT licenses on the spot! Save some damned trees and postage! If we have to pick up plates at your offices, have some kind of system in place to see if they are there or to track the progress! This ain’t rocket science, people!
I LOATHE the DMV of NC and CA. Will post about the NC DMV later, still too angry to form words about THAT one.
